    5th grade decimals question
I have had several teachers ask for clarification on NBT7 (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals to hundredths). They are having some difficulty with using the area models to multiply and divide a tenths decimal by a hundredths decimal. When I looked at the teacher curriculum guide for 5th grade all of the examples I saw were multiplying a hundredths decimal by a tenths. However, the division was only a tenths by a tenths and the decimal multiplication seemed to be a tenths by a tenths to get a hundredths. The teachers all said that this makes way more sense when using the area models. I wanted some clarification to make sure I was giving them the right information. Is this correct?

If a child test on Stage 2, do you use Stage 2 activities or Stage 3 activities?
You would use Stage 2 activities to start. If you find that the student is proficient and ready to move on, then you would proceed to Stage 3 activities. I hope this helps!

If a child test on Stage 2, do you use Stage 2 activities or Stage 3 activities? Last year when we tested a child who scored Stage 2 on the screener, we would use Stage 3 activities for the intervention. When looking at the activities list, it state if the student scores Stage Two you use Stage Two activities. Please help us figure this out!
